Under the general direction and supervision of the Library Director or assistant Director, the Teen’s Programming and Outreach Librarian performs responsible functions requiring considerable judgment and initiative in planning and overseeing library services, programming, and outreach to young adults within the library and the community. Responsible for assisting library patrons of all ages.
Position Purpose: Plans, implements, and oversees all activities of the Teen’s Library Services relating to programming, collection management, reference and reader’s advisory services for teens and adults. The Teen’s
Outreach Librarian is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control. Performs all other related work as required.
The position is for 35 hours per week: Monday-Thursday, 1pm-8:30pm; Alternate Friday/Saturdays, 8:30am to 4:00pm (Sept. – May). Hours will change in the Summer (June-August).
Qualifications:
Master of Science in Library and Information Science (MLIS) and experience serving tweens and teens in a library or school setting preferred. Applicants must possess a wide variety of computer skills, including familiarity with automated library systems, databases, and common programs such as Word, Excel, etc. Strong skills in customer service, reader’s advisory and library programs preferred. Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team setting, work positively with diverse constituency and willingness to work on-call hours.
