Volunteer Library Manager, Kindling, Remote

Kindling is a U.S. based non-profit organization founded in 2020 to support and inspire fire safety in vulnerable communities around the world. Our interdisciplinary team of global researchers and practitioners have extensive experience in engineering, planning, and social and physical sciences in diverse geographies and sectors, such as the architecture/engineering/ construction industry, international development, humanitarian sector, disaster risk reduction, and public safety.

We are looking for a volunteer library manager to help us organise our research resources, support our team in search and reference, as well as design the structure for a Kindling website- based library with references to fire safety resources available to the public.

Duties:

  • Establish a system/structure for internal library searching and referencing
  • Establish and maintain a structure for public electronic access to Kindling resources
  • Support Kindling staff in accessing knowledge resources, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of referencing styles
  • Ability to work with Mendeley referencing platform
  • Experience in implementation of basic electronic indexing/document management systems
  • Experience in document research/search
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with our global internal team;

Time frame: 3 months with opportunity to extend role
