Reference Librarian (Part-time), Framingham State University, Framingham, MA

Framingham State University seeks a part-time reference librarian. The part-time Reference Librarian assists library users at the Research Help desk and by phone, email, chat, and online communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides reference and research assistance in person and by phone, email, chat or online communication.
  • Maintains statistical records for all reference services provided.
  • Gathers data to assess reference statistics.
  • Assists with library instruction sessions.
  • Supports the Access Services Librarian by serving as a back-up supervisor for the main desk when needed.
  • Troubleshoot problems related to library equipment such as printers, scanners, workstations and copiers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution of higher education, or currently enrolled in an accredited Library School.
  • Experience working in a library.
  • Ability to work with diverse constituencies.
  • Excellence customer service skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly, collaboratively, and collegially in a dynamic workplace.
  • Experience and working with electronic resources such as online databases, Libguides and the Microsoft Office suite is preferred.

Additional Information:

This is a part-time non-benefited, contract position, not to exceed 18 hours per week. The pay rate is $16.00 per hour.
