Description:
Responsible for a variety of professional library services including reference, reader’s advisory, programs and selection of library materials to meet the needs of library customers. Essential Functions and Other Important Duties
Essential Functions:
- Conduct reference interview with patrons to determine information needs; provide reference and reading guidance to children and adults, including locating, selecting and using materials; address special research needs
- Instruct the public in the use of library equipment, technology, and electronic resources
- Assist in planning and coordinating programs and services for children, teens, or adults
- May present story times and literature-based programs for children and their caregivers and educational and informational programs for teens and adults
- Assist with collection development and collection maintenance through evaluation, selection, and weeding of assigned library collection areas
- Conduct library orientation tours and community outreach for individuals or groups
- Explain library policy to the public as needed
- Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance
Additional Duties:
- Prepare publicity materials, displays and bulletin boards to promote the library and services
- Record statistical information as needed
- Supervise volunteer scheduling and activities
- Performs other duties as assigned
- May be responsible for the library branch in the absence of library management
