The Graduate Coordinator (GC) for Residence Life is a part-time position that reports to the Director of Residence Life and helps to support a residential population of approximately 1,000 students. There are two GCs within the Office of Residence Life. GCs oversee administrative procedures associated with the housing assignment process and the front desk. The GCs share supervision of five Office Assistants, which greet walk-ins, answer the phone, respond to emails in the [email protected] inbox, and help with projects and errands. GCs also assist with hearing conduct cases and creating resources for department processes. GCs work 20 office hours per week. The term of employment will commence as soon as possible and conclude May 31, 2021.
Qualifications:
The GC is required to have an earned Bachelor’s degree and be currently enrolled in a graduate program at Simmons University. Candidates must possess exceptional organizational skills, sophisticated interpersonal skills, excellent listening, written and oral communication skills, and initiative. GC must have prior experience interacting with diverse student populations; ability to create and maintain a team atmosphere with staff and peers; demonstrated commitment to and a willingness to engage in complex diversity issues in campus housing. Continued employment is contingent on satisfactory background check and maintaining enrollment in a graduate degree program.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the administrative room change and room swap processes
- Oversee the administrative procedures associated with the front desk
- Supervise five Office Assistants, which greet walk-ins, answer the phone, respond to emails in the [email protected] inbox, and help with projects and errands.
- Serve as a hearing officer for student conduct cases
- Manage the minor visitor request process, meal plan upgrades, and health and safety check process.
- Lead the review and approval process for flyers submitted for posting within the residence halls
- Participate in the assessment of department initiatives and processes
- Support and refer individual students to appropriate university offices
- Create positive working relationships with colleagues and students
- Work collaboratively with campus stakeholders to provide excellent student service
- Collaborate with colleagues to facilitate the satisfaction and retention of students
Compensation:
- $15 per hour for 20 hours per week
