Description:
The Town of Brookline Library is seeking a customer service oriented professional Reference Librarian I to provide reference/information and reader’s advisory services to patrons of all ages. The Librarian I will plan and execute the Library’s adult English Language Learners (ELL) programming and instructs participants about how to make use of the Libraries resources, including language-learning books and test prep for the TOEFL and U.S. Citizenship exams. The Reference Librarian I will assist patrons to find resources to fulfill their information needs using the online catalog, electronic databases, the Internet, and other resources; provide information to patrons on library policies, services, activities, facilities, and regulations; inform and instruct library users in the use of assistive technology materials and equipment; lead book discussion groups and other forms of library programming for adults.
The Public Library of Brookline, a member of the Minuteman Library Network, is a vital community center, with a main library and two branch libraries that boast some of the highest circulation numbers and innovative offerings in the State.
Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited school, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to public service are essential. English Language Learners (ELL) programming experience strongly preferred.
Salary Info:
Starting Salary: $54,963.78 annualized ($28.4580 hourly) with excellent benefits and working conditions.
