Under the direction of the Town Manager, the Library Director leads, directs and manages the Town of
Hopkinton’s Public Library. The work is accomplished by working to meet the information and library needs of
all patrons; planning and formulating services and policies; directing, training and supervising staff for
optimum service; acquiring, maintaining and creating access to collections of print, media, other forms of
information and cultural materials which fulfill the needs of the Library’s patrons. Offers informative programs
and works cooperatively with town departments, community groups, library networks, local schools and
academic agencies.


QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience
● Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school; seven (7) years of progressively
responsible experience in library administration, including personnel management, fiscal
management, program development and facility management and three years of experience in a
supervisory capacity including demonstrated leadership qualities and experience leading and
mentoring staff.
● Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of professional library work and management
and organization of library operations including collection development, administration, personnel
and finance.
● Public administration knowledge.
● Working knowledge of computerization and appropriate library applications.
● Ability to communicate effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Ability to coordinate building maintenance.
● Excellent planning and organizational skills.
● Grant writing and fundraising skills.
Required Licensing/Certifications:
● State Certification of Librarianship from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
● Valid Driver’s License.


Hiring Salary Range: $82,555 – $107,327; Full range to $115,585
