Salary $25.00/hour
Excellent opportunity to contribute toward the daily public services operations and generally support a
special collections department.
Staffs the Reading Room up to six hours per week, serving as a public face of Baker Library Special
Collections, assisting users, answering questions, and ensuring the safety and security of collections.
Manages the retrieval and re-shelving of collections for researcher use.
Fulfills user digitization requests, following best practices for handling, quality assurance, and file
naming.
Confirms and routes requests from offsite storage.
Responds to basic reference requests under the direction of Manager, Public Services.
Supports the preparation of materials for digitization, including paperwork and collections reviews.
May assist with stacks management projects, including barcoding, shelf reads, and inventories on a
limited basis.
This is a 20 hour per week, 3-month temporary position with the possibility of additional hours or
extension. Hours must be completed between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Preference
will be given to individuals available 5 days a week
Requirements:
Library experience and/or customer service experience. Excellent communication and organizational
skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and to complete work in a timely manner.
Sensitivity to proper care and handling of special collections materials. Advanced degree in library
science strongly preferred.
