Description: The Nichols Library Board of Trustees seeks a self-directed, customer-focused, data-driven, forward-thinking individual who is passionate about libraries and their role in small communities to serve as Library Director. Working under the direction of the Library Board of Trustees, this individual will help design and implement a new, innovative service model for our library, expand onsite and virtual programming, and revitalize our patron base, while providing traditional, core library services to the greater Center Harbor community. The historic 1910 Nichols Library is located in a friendly, small town in central New Hampshire, on the shore of beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. Center Harbor is close to year-round outdoor recreation and about a 2-hour drive from downtown Boston.
Supervisor: The Library Director is accountable to and reports directly to the Library Board of Trustees.
Recommended Qualifications: Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science from an American Library Association accredited degree program preferred. Minimum of five (5) years in library management, non-profit leadership or other relevant experience. Welcomes a challenge. Able to articulate a strong vision of libraries in the future and re-imagine library services. Open to new and different ideas and can think outside of the box. Knowledgeable about NH statutes concerning town libraries, as well as labor law. Recognizes the impact of the Library budget upon residents, especially in a small town, and is able to design, justify and implement services and programs accordingly. Understands budgeting. Values and respects collegial debate. Ability to multi-task, problem-solve and be flexible. Excellent interpersonal skills. Familiarity with current library software (Atriuum) and technologies, as well as virtual programming and social media platforms. Communicates effectively in writing and verbally.
Wages: Commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, 30 hour/week position for FY 2021. Depending on Library need, possible additional hours for FY 2022 are negotiable and to be determined.
