Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and monitor the operations of the library’s interlibrary loan (ILL) functions.
– Perform all aspects of ILL borrowing and lending, including researching complex requests (obscure
items, foreign language materials, partial references, special requests, unfilled requests, renewals,
etc.).
– Monitor the RivILL portal assuring ILL content is delivered effectively.
– Manage copyright compliance and make use of document suppliers and the Copyright Clearance
Center when necessary.
– Explore and evaluate new and emerging technologies and approaches to service provision.
– In collaboration with library management, develop, assess, and revise interlibrary loan services,
operating policies, procedures, and services.
– Act as subject specialist collection development liaison for one or more content areas.
– Evaluate daily workload and coordinate with technical services staff resources to meet demand.
– Provide desk coverage at the Educational Resource Center (ERC) in regular rotation and periodically at
the Circulation Desk when User Services staff are not available.
– Assist with mending books designated for repair.
– Assist technical services with cataloging and book processing as time permits.
– Assist with library projects, programming, and other tasks as needed.
– Opportunity to participate as member of library instruction team.
Qualifications:
– Required Education and Experience:
o Bachelor’s Degree, plus a minimum of one to two years of relevant library experience, or a
combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are
acquired.
o Excellent concentration, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
o Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Education and Experience:
o Interlibrary loan experience.
o MLS degree or MLS degree candidate.
o Academic library experience.
o Experience with library’s integrated library system.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provide operational supervision for the Technical Services Graduate Student
Employee (when the GSE is working in ILL), provide supervision for any student workers when covering a
public service desk and for any ILL student workers.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a year-round, 40 hours per week, hourly position,
encompassing primarily weekday hours unless otherwise needed.
Physical Demands:
– While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and
arms, stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger and grasp, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls
and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop and crouch.
– Hand-eye coordination necessary to operate computers and various office equipment.
– The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
-Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral
vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
