Citation Manager Program Assistant Coordinator (Part-Time), Northeastern University, Boston, MA

This position will be primarily responsible for helping coordinate the Citation Management Webinar series in the fall and spring semesters, occasionally developing citation management related online learning objects such as tutorials, and helping to maintain and update citation management related research subject guides. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to teach a citation management related webinar. Primary responsibilities include:

• Schedule and create events using Springshare products (LibCal and LibInsight) for each citation management webinar. Work with librarians to coordinate times for them to teach each webinar.
• Moderate each webinar introducing the speaker, managing the chat, and helping participants troubleshoot issues as they arise. Edit recordings, check accessibility features and send out recording and relevant information to registrants.
• Review data analytics for series and present them in reports.
• Teach a webinar on a citation management tool.
• Assist in updating and maintaining Research Subject Guides on Citations and Bibliographies, EndNote, RefWorks, Zotero, and Mendeley.
• Develop online learning objects related to citation management tools.
• Work with marketing coordinator to develop marketing materials for the series.

This position reports to Brooke Williams in the Research and Instruction Department.

This position is intended to incorporate both remote and in-person work hours, negotiable depending on the candidate’s circumstances. Remote work requires a reliable Internet connection and quiet environment to work with discretion.

The successful candidate will:

• Be interested in online learning and teaching
• Be collaborative and detail-oriented
• Be curious to learn about how library support is developed and maintained for tools (ex. Citation management software)
• Be excited about library instruction and working with patrons at all levels from students to faculty
• Have weekday daytime availability for 12 hours a week from August 2021 through March 2022

This position will give you the opportunity to learn the logistics of how to develop, run, and assess an instructional webinar series. You will have the opportunity to learn how to use tools such as LibCal, LibInsight, and Zoom, work closely with a team of librarians to present high quality webinars, and help with promotion. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop leadership and management skills and work with a group of collaborative and welcoming librarians in a library that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. In addition to the webinar series, you’ll have an opportunity to learn how to develop and maintain asynchronous online learning objects that also help the library support tools such as citation managers.

Minimum & Preferred Qualifications:

• Interested in academic librarianship and online learning
• Comfortable interacting with others using virtual tools such as Zoom, email
• Interest in both synchronous and asynchronous teaching
• Be able to read, write, and speak English
• Comfortable using computer software such as Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams
• Engaged by learning new software quickly (e.g. Springshare LibApps, Zoom, Canvas, Google Slides, EndNote, RefWorks, Mendeley, Zotero, etc.)
• Masters in Library Science in progress
• Preferred: Experience using and/or teaching EndNote, RefWorks, Mendeley, and Zotero in any setting (formal or informal)

Salary: $18/hour
Position Duration: September 2021 – March 2022
Hours/Week: 12 hours/week
