Job Title: Children’s Librarian/Assistant Director

Duties/Description: We are looking for qualified candidates to fill a part-time (18 hrs/wk) position as our Children’s Librarian/Assistant Director.  The schedule is flexible but includes some evening hours and occasional Saturday hours.   We are looking for someone creative, friendly and energetic to take over our youth programming and services.  The job includes working with kids of all ages, from birth to eighteen, as well as running the summer reading program.

Candidates should have strong computer skills with knowledge of web design and social media platforms as well as an understanding of basic troubleshooting. Candidates should also have an understanding of marketing and community outreach as that is an important component of the job.  The ability to create visually attractive fliers, signs and displays is a big plus.

The job calls for serving in a supervisory capacity when the Library Director is absent, and performing circulation, reference, technical and interlibrary loan services as needed. Candidates should be able to work closely with other staff in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree and two or more years involved in the general functions of  public libraries including experience working with and providing programming for children and families; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary: $19.12/hour, 18 hours a week
