Reference Librarian/Archivist, Westfield Athenaeum (Westfield)
Reporting to the Head of Adult Services, the Reference Librarian/Archivist is responsible for providing reference services to researchers, overseeing the acquisition, organization, cataloging, processing, care and accessibility of archival and historical artifacts that make up the collections of the Westfield Athenaeum. This position is responsible for identifying materials needing repair and conservation, the use of appropriate preservation techniques, organizing and cataloging new archival acquisitions, preparing information and collections for web-based access and exhibit use, and training and supervising interns. The reference librarian/archivist serves regular shifts on the reference desk and works rotating shifts on evenings and Saturdays.
Qualifications
A Masters Degree in Library and Information Science with an Archival Management concentration is required. Experience working in an archives in preferred. Applicants must be able to work with the public on a fast-paced reference desk, work alone with a minimum of supervision, have excellent organizational skills, be able to perform historical research, and work well with other library staff.
