Description:
The Town of Bedford Archives is looking for a motivated student or recent graduate to perform an internship centered on organizing a large collection pertaining to Bedford’s Conservation Commission. Tasks will include collating, culling, and otherwise processing a collection that has been physically split in half over time. This is an unpaid opportunity.
Duties:
- Collating the two sections of the collection, both of which may have duplicate files.
- Culling duplicate documents.
- Performing routine processing tasks.
- Creation of a finding aid done in compliance with current archival standards (DACS).
Qualifications:
- Current graduate student or recent graduate in areas of Archives or Library Science.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of archival theory and practice.
- Ability to lift large, cumbersome boxes, 40lbs+.
Timeframe:
- Start date negotiable.
- 16 hrs/wk, preferably in two 8 hour segments with some flexibility.
