As the Teen Services Librarian, you are part of a high-quality public service team assisting all patrons with a focus on teens in grades 6-12, their families, caregivers and those who work with teens.

This position requires a balance of forward-looking ideas, compassionate community engagement, and positive team energy to create lasting bonds for teens within the library and throughout the community. A highlight reel of what this position entails includes:

Program Design and Delivery:

  • Conceptualizes culturally-competent, responsive programs and services to fulfill needs and wants of teen community members
  • Adopts a connected learning approach to presenting programs, classes and events for and with teens so that they educate, inform and inspire.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions for “tweens” into teen services through proactive communication and collaboration with Children’s Department to ensure youth remain lifelong learners

Community Engagement & Partnerships:

  • Fosters supportive and collaborative partnerships within local schools, community groups, agencies and nonprofits
  • Identify service area gaps and implements creative and thoughtful outreach tactics to connect with teen library users and nonusers

Collection Development & Readers’ Advisory:

  • Utilize knowledge of emerging trends and community needs to advocate for and purchase materials by underrepresented communities, addressing the need for more representation of marginalized groups in library’s collection
  • Provides platform to guide youth to explore digital media and library resources

Position is full-time (37.5 hours/week) including one evening and a Saturday rotation. Expected salary range is $53,918-57,233 and includes benefits and ample professional development opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications 

  1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in any subject and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science. Candidates for a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science program will be considered; and
  2. One to two years of professional library experience; or   
  3. Any equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience, with additional work experience substituting for the required education on a year for year basis
