Project Archivist, Olaleye Communications, Boston, MA  

This position will inventory, organize, arrange, and describe a collection of creative and professional work produced by a visual artist and retired Professor.  The intern will work closely with the creator of the materials to prepare this collection for eventual deposit to an archival repository.  The collection includes photographic prints, negatives, audio-visual materials, publications, personal papers, and  . . .   Intern will conduct a comprehensive inventory of the materials, producing container lists and documenting metadata in a spreadsheet.  

This position is part-time, 15-20 hours/week, for the duration of the project (expected to be several months).  Pay will be $20.00/hour.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inventory and organize materials 
  • Re-house, label and prepare materials for eventual long-term storage
  • Create database to track materials

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrollment in or recent completion of a Masters-level program in library science, archival studies, museum studies or related program 
  • Experience working with physical archival collections
  • Interest in and experience with film, photographs, and audio-visual materials preferred 
  • Flexible nature with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks/activities simultaneously
  • Strong administrative, detail and follow-up skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills, curiosity and motivation
