Located 36 miles east of Atlanta on Emory’s original campus in Oxford Georgia, Oxford College of Emory University invites candidates to apply for a Teaching and Learning Librarian position.  We seek an enthusiastic individual with proven teaching and technology skills to work with the library’s instruction program to develop and deliver innovative, quality services for the Oxford College Library (http://oxford.library.emory.edu/).  The teaching librarian will support the college curriculum which includes Discovery Seminars with information literacy as a key outcome.  In addition to the Discovery Seminars, the librarian will partner with faculty to integrate information literacy into courses across the curriculum.  Also, the librarian will provide significant research support for faculty in their disciplines. 

Responsibilities: 

The successful candidates for this position will develop innovative instruction and learning opportunities, modules, and programs to assist first- and second-year students in building important information literacy abilities.  Librarians play an integral role in support of the College’s inquiry-driven curriculum in collaboration with other teaching librarians and faculty.  Candidates should be comfortable with current and evolving information technologies, including the development and implementation of flipped classroom techniques and tools.  The Librarian will, based on disciplinary interest and expertise, support other library initiatives:  faculty research, digital projects, collection development, outreach, and assessment.  Librarians are active members of internal library teams, College and University Libraries committees, and have the opportunity to participate in professional organizations. 

Qualifications: 

Required: a graduate degree in librarianship from an ALA-accredited institution; demonstrated effective, discipline-specific teaching experience; knowledge and experience in meeting the research needs of students and faculty in a variety of subject areas; self-motivation; flexibility; strong problem-solving, written, and oral communication skills; initiative and the ability to conceive and carry out projects on a deadline, including managing multiple responsibilities and effectively responding to the needs of a campus community that makes heavy demands on library services.  The ability to work in a collaborative team environment is key.  

Salary and Benefits: 

Salary based on qualifications and experience.  This is a non-tenure track faculty-equivalent librarian position that follows a rank and promotion system based on performance, scholarship and creative endeavors, professional development, and campus and academic service.  The library provides generous support for professional development and activities.  Emory University offers a comprehensive benefits package, including tuition benefits.  Several retirement plan options are available, including TIAA/CREF.
