Part Time Reference Librarian, Fogler Library at the University of Maine, Orono, Maine

This is an opportunity to join a dynamic team at Fogler Library at the University of Maine, the Flagship campus of the University of Maine System.  Located in Orono, in the heart of the beautiful State of Maine, this land, sea and space grant public university is at the forefront of research with state, national and international impacts.  This position offers the opportunity to advance faculty and student research at Maine’s largest library.

This Part Time Reference Librarian position will provide 20 hours a week of direct reference service from September to May,  to all members of the University of Maine community, including undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, instructors, and staff.  Fogler Library also provides services to members of the public.  As a member of the Reference & Information Literacy Department, they will work closely with the subject librarians, and be assigned to create online topic guides.  The hours will optimally be scheduled during midday, week days, but there can be some flexibility.

The successful candidate will have an American Librarian Association accredited master’s degree, reference service training or experience, experience or training in database searching, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently or as part of a team.  Experience creating Web guides or tutorials will be preferred.
