Schedule: 10-4 EST (with some flexibility) 30 hours a week
Pay Rate: Begins at $24.00 an hour (but open to negotiation)
CORI: NO but another background check will be performed by JSI

Description:
John Snow, Inc. (JSI), JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc., and World Education, Inc. (WEI) are co-located and affiliated organizations dedicated to public health and education with operations in the United States and many countries around the world. The organizations are seeking an Senior Library Consultant. This individual will be responsible for managing day-to-day library operations as well as supporting the development and implementation of the vision and plan for realizing the next generation of library services at JSI/WEI. This position will report to the interim JSI/WEI Library Director and be based in the Boston, MA office, although working remotely is expected for the duration of this contract, as JSI/WEI staff are working remotely. The position will initially be filled for 4 months with a possibility of extension and up to 30 hours per week.

Responsibilities:
● Supervise and manage daily library activities
● Provide (or oversee JSI/WEI staff providing) library/research services, including managing literature reviews for projects, performing environmental scans, full-text article acquisition, responding to requests for searches from JSI/WEI staff, providing guidance on search terms and strategy, etc.
● Maintain JSI/WEI access to online periodicals/books/other publications; manage relationship with current vendor, Research Solutions/Reprints Desk
● Produce current contents services for relevant topic areas and tables of contents distribution integral to JSI/WEI projects
● Design and deliver library-related training and SOPs for staff
● Coordinate library user group
● Participate in library advisory committee meetings
● Maintain and update the library’s Intranet web pages

● Maintain JSI/WEI’s membership in the MA Library System and manage interlibrary loan requests
● Support staff in the use of reference manager software such as Endnote, Mendeley
● Evaluate potential vendor(s) for scholarly resource searches and acquisitions
● Conduct research and provide recommendations on library-related software, database, and technology requirements and best practices
● Consider and recommend infrastructure and processes to support an JSI/WEI intellectual property digital library/repository
● Analyze and report usage statistics to aid in budget allocation activities
● Analyze and recommend long-term staffing models to support library functionality
● Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required
● MLS/MLIS from accredited institution
● Experience with developing strategies for conducting a literature reviews and environmental scans, identifying search terms, databases, and other information sources
● Experience using and training others in the use of online research tools, including PubMed and other science and social science databases
● Experience with developing and providing training on topics such as conducting a literature search, etc.
● Experience with library services-related vendors and their management
● Experience developing digital library databases
Desired
● Experience with knowledge management, records management, intellectual property concepts and application, and digital assets management experience
● Content knowledge through education and/or experience working with JSI/WEI-like organizations
● Experience providing modern library services to non-profit group (ideally public health and adult education focused)
● Experience with a variety of reference managers (such as EndNote, Mendeley, etc.)
