The Access Services Librarian provides direct oversight for the library’s evening and weekend access and delivery services. Supervises 3 library support staff in the areas of circulation, interlibrary loan, document delivery, reference, reserves support, resource sharing, acquisition, and copy-cataloging at the medical library, including hiring, training, coaching and evaluating staff. Oversees student employment in coordination with the Head of Access and Delivery Services for approximately three to six student employees. Assists with general reference and research support for library users during evening and weekend hours.
Through direct and indirect supervision of all CWML Access and Delivery Services staff, the Access Services Librarian ensures the quality and efficiency of all services, provides leadership, and recommends strategy for the department. Ensures that library-wide access and technical services policies and procedures are followed and contributes as appropriate to the creation of those policies and procedures through committee memberships and by working closely with parallel positions in the library system. Responsible for coordinating access and technical services statistical reporting and analysis and workflow design. Responsible for communicating with medical library leadership to ensure continuity and efficiency of services across all areas of CWML. The incumbent is expected to demonstrate professional leadership and commitment in appropriate regional, national, and international professional organizations. This position reports to the Head of Access and Delivery Services.
Work schedule will be Sunday – Thursday 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm.

Required Education and Experience: Master’s degree from an ALA accredited library school or its equivalent. Experience managing and developing staff. Demonstrated excellent customer service skills. Experience working collegially, collaboratively and independently with varied groups with and across a complex organization and rapidly changing environment.
Qualifications:
– Demonstrated ability to manage access services functions (circulation, resource sharing/document delivery/interlibrary loan, reserves) and the integrated library systems and technologies that support them. Demonstrated skill with ordering, receiving, and cataloging or copy-cataloging in a library setting.
– Ability to provide reference, information, consultation and outreach services for clinical professionals and library users.
– Ability to manage monographic collection development services (ordering, receiving, copy cataloging) and oversee staff working in these areas. Demonstrated ability in budget management.
– Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across the academic and hospital organizational units.
– Ability to work collegially, collaboratively and independently with varied groups with and across a complex organization and rapidly changing environment.
– Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Familiarity with assessment and evaluation methods. Experience supervising in a labor union environment.
