Description:
The William Morris Hunt Memorial Library, the research library of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, is seeking a temporary part-time Library Assistant that provides assistance with special project and the routine library maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Weeding: assists senior library staff in multiple steps of the weeding process (marking withdrawn items, updating records, keeping internal weeding documentation and packing shipment)
- Stacks Maintenance: contributes to collection maintenance and daily re-shelving
- Technical Services: process newly acquired books and auction catalogs (generating spine and/or piece labels, stamping and marking); performing various searching projects as needed.
Basic Qualifications
- BA in art history or related field;
- Working knowledge of library methods and procedures;
- Experience working with library automated system is preferred;
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
The hourly wage is $18 per hour.
