Description:
We seek a dynamic and flexible individual who loves teaching and understands how to engage K-8 students. The position requires a positive attitude and the ability to inspire curiosity in students of all ages. The EHS curriculum is thematic and interdisciplinary and candidates must be collaborative, creative, and flexible. Applicants must have strong organizational and teaching skills, sensitivity to the social and emotional needs of children, and be driven to explore ways to reach all learners through differentiated instruction in a child-centered environment. Applicants must have references that speak to their ability to develop positive relationships with students and colleagues.
The Library Media Specialist empowers students to be enthusiastic readers, critical thinkers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. The specialist works to instill an appreciation of literature, ensures equitable access to information and circulation of materials, and integrates a variety of technology tools to enhance learning. In 2021, Epstein Hillel opened a brand new library as part of its Innovation Center.
Qualifications:
● M.S. in library science from an ALA-accredited university program or from a master’s level
program in library and information studies.
● Experience teaching in a school setting
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Teach library classes to students in grades K-5, including literature appreciation and research
skills
● Maintain library collection, which includes ordering and maintaining the physical and virtual
library spaces
● Collaborate on projects with technology specialist, homeroom teachers and other specialists
● Act as a resource for classroom teachers
● Model and teach digital citizenship/safety and adherence to copyright and fair use
requirements
● Demonstrate a commitment to equity, broad diversity, and inclusion in collection development
and within the learning community
