The Armenian Cultural Foundation seeks an intern/assistant specializing in library sciences to assist the curator in cataloging and archiving its library and special collections. The intern will work directly with the curator. The Special Collections include, prints, musical scores, articles, books, correspondence, audio-visual materials, publications and personal papers. The intern will conduct a comprehensive inventory of the materials, producing container lists and develop directories in a word format. The position is part-time and temporary (expected to be about six months). This position is unpaid, however, all costs related to the projects incurred by the intern (e.g. travel, materials) will be covered by the Foundation.
Responsibilities:
- Inventory and organize materials
- Label and prepare meterials for eventual long-term storage
- Create directories and database.
Qualifications:
+ Enrollment in or recent completion of a Masters-level program in library science,
archival studies, museum studies or related program
+ Experience working with physical archival collections
+ Interest in and experience with film, photographs, and audio-visual materials
preferred
+ Flexible nature with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks/activities
simultaneously
+ Strong administrative, detail and follow-up skills
+ Creative problem-solving skills, curiosity and motivation
+ Knowledge of languages other than English not required, but preferable.
