The Library of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority is seeking an Intern to assist the library supervisor in 1. Creating a metadata object description schema (MODS) for historical photographs in preparation for digitization 2. Classifying, weeding, and digitizing extensive research file collection 3. Assisting in the daily operation of a small, governmental Special Library.
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in an ALA-accredited Library and Information Science Master’s degree program
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Well-developed organizational skills with a thorough attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Cataloging and database experience preferred
Responsibilities:
- Organize, classify and digitize print documents from a print research files collection.
- Gather and record metadata for historic photograph digitization project in MODS
- Learn daily library operations in a special library setting
- Serve a wide variety of personnel in reference requests as needed
- Provide additional support to Library Supervisor as needed

- Work Location: 2 Griffin Way, Chelsea, Massachusetts, 02150
- Hourly Rate: $20.00
- Work Schedule: Flexible Mon. Fri. 9:00 to 5:00. 20 – 40 hours/week
- This is a 6 month internship
