Description:

The Newmarket Public Library is seeking a part-time (15 hours/week) Children’s Librarian.  This individual will report to the Director.  Duties will include, but will not be limited to, developing and implementing children’s programming, including story times, summer reading, crafts, etc. online and in person.  Promotion of activities in the community, circulation tasks, and supervision of library assistants and volunteers.  Curates the children’s collection, making decisions on purchasing, collection maintenance and deselection, to maintain a balanced collection.  Manages cataloging and processing of new materials. Hourly rate starting $17.14 depending on qualifications.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree
• At least three years related work experience
• Demonstrated excellent customer service skills as they relate to a public library setting
• Skills and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position, including experience with Microsoft Office and library automated network software
• Must be creative, adaptable, energetic and have strong interpersonal skills
