Job Functions:
- Desk duties include checking materials in and out to patrons, registering new patrons, answering questions from the public in-person and on the phone, assisting patrons with library resources and technology, and troubleshooting patron computers.
- The Assistant Reference Librarian helps to maintain the circulating collection through shelving, shelf reading, mending, discarding and cleaning.
- Sets up displays and exhibits.
- Processes and catalogs library materials.
- Shifts at the reference desk may include assisting the Reference Librarian in preparing for and running library programming and related tasks.
- Must be able to push book carts and bins loaded with library materials, to reach and retrieve books at high and low shelf height, to stand/sit for prolonged periods of time, and able to assist lifting up to 30 pounds.
- May attend conferences, meetings, and participate in continuing education.
- May undertake special projects, committee work, and other tasks as needed at the request of the Library Director or their designee.
