We are seeking applicants that understand the unique workflows of the library and possess an aptitude for software and technology. This position will evaluate software workflows and provide valuable feedback to the Product Team that will directly inform the quality of the product used by librarians in the field.
Responsibilities:
- Test new software features to ensure functionality and usability.
- Evaluate current software features and make recommendations for improvement.
- Provide insight to increase software’s ease of use and make workflows more intuitive.
Required Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in or recent graduate from Library Science (MLS) program (or equivalent ALA-accredited program).
- Demonstrated completion of coursework, project, or report in usability evaluation and/or user experience testing.
- Cumulative 1 year of experience in library and/or archives position(s) including:
- Basic experience with at least one Integrated Library System (ILS).
- Basic experience with the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) process.
- Analytical skills for evaluating and assessing software functionality
- Attention to detail when testing complex workflows
- Ability to work responsibly with a remote team and the tools related to maintaining remote communications (GoToMeeting, Microsoft Teams, email, phone).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with software development and coding.
- Experience with quality assurance testing.
- 2 or more years in library and/or archives position(s).
Other Information:
- $15-20/hr commensurate with prior experience.
- Part-time. Approximately 15 to 30 hours per week.
- Position will work remotely.
- Position available through end of 2020 with possibility for extension.
