Z. Smith Reynolds (ZSR) Library seeks an exceptional student-centered librarian to join the Research & Instruction team. The successful candidate will be energetic, team-oriented, and knowledgeable of best practices in information literacy instruction and will strive to help ZSR promote its mission to “inspire learning, advance knowledge, and build community at Wake Forest University.”
Duties and Responsibilities
The Instruction Librarian will serve as a primary instructor in our information literacy program, teaching up to six sections of our elective credit-bearing information literacy course each semester. Some of these sections will be taught online. Guided by best practices in information literacy and pedagogy, the Librarian will be responsible for creating course materials, conducting classes and evaluating and assessing student progress. In collaboration with the other instructors in the program, the Librarian will be responsible for updating the course curriculum on a regular basis to best meet the needs of our students. The Librarian will also provide general reference service both virtually and in-person for students, faculty, and the University community.
* This is a twelve month position, with Library Faculty status, reporting to the Director for Research and Instruction Services of the Z. Smith Reynolds Library.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program. Experience providing information literacy instruction, preferably in a for-credit environment. Knowledge of and experience with information literacy best practices, instructional design, and inclusive teaching practices. Excellent written and oral communications skills are essential. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience teaching in an online environment
- Experience in academic library reference and instruction
- Experience with emerging instructional technologies
- Experience with Canvas learning management system
