Reference Librarian/Technology Specialist, Nevins Memorial Library, Methuen, MA

The Nevins Memorial Library seeks an enthusiastic person with a focus on technology.  The perfect candidate would provide excellent customer service and be comfortable working with the public as part of a team-oriented department.  That person would be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of public and staff computers and would coordinate with the network consultant on major issues.  In addition, this staff member would be well versed in all aspects of public reference service including answering of reference questions, requesting ILL materials, database instruction and some collection development in the department.  This is a full time (35hr) position. MLS preferred but not required.

 

Qualifications

Specific Technology Responsibilities:

• Acts in the absence of the Technology Supervisor

• Assists library staff with technical difficulties arising from hardware and/or software.

• Assists with maintaining the daily operation of the library computer systems including but not limited to:  Resolves and troubleshoots problems with computer hardware, software, networks and Wifi connectivity.

• Maintains appropriate technology records regarding ongoing issues and resolution of such as well as confirm the complete inventory of all computers within the Library.

• Assists the Technology Supervisor with the purchase and installation of compatible hardware and software applications

• Performs necessary computer system diagnostics, and ongoing software upgrades.

• Confirms workstation security and performance

• Develops technology programming for patrons and provides device advice by appointment

 

Full/Part Time: Full Time

Education: BA/BS

Salary: Commensurate on education and experience
