Reference and Public Services Librarian
The Town of Billerica seeks a part-time Reference and Public Services Librarian. The Reference and Public Services Librarian supports library programs, resource development, and patron engagement. As a member of the Reference Department, the Reference and Public Services Librarian also provides exemplary public service while staffing the reference desk during regularly scheduled shifts.
Duties

Facilitates access to library materials in all available formats and provides expert guidance to patrons of all ages requesting information or on-the-spot assistance with technology

Provides backup reference coverage for the reference desk as needed

Contributes to efforts to increase awareness and usage of the library through the development of print and marketing content

Manages the library’s circulating e-readers

Participates in library programming initiatives, including summer reading

Selects library materials for purchase in assigned areas

Serves as a Passport Acceptance agent by appointment

Attends workshops, trainings, and conferences, and participates in professional development activities
-
Other job functions as assigned
Schedule
17.5-hour work week includes every other Saturday and one Sunday per month. Schedule may include one evening per week depending on the needs of the library.
Qualifications
A Master’s Degree in Library Science in a program accredited by the American Library Association. Recent graduates encouraged to apply. Minimum of one to two years’ experience in library work preferred.
Salary
Starting at $426.45 per week following in 9 steps with prorated time off

The Town of Billerica seeks a part-time Reference and Marketing Librarian. The Reference and Marketing Librarian creates print and electronic content to promote the library’s adult services, resources, and programs, as well library-wide programs. As a member of the Reference Department, the Reference and Marketing Librarian also provides exemplary public service while staffing the reference desk during regularly scheduled shifts.
Duties

Facilitates access to library materials in all available formats and provides expert guidance to patrons of all ages requesting information or on-the-spot assistance with technology

Provides backup coverage for the reference desk as needed

Coordinates marketing efforts for all adult services, adult programs, and library-wide programs

Creates print and electronic marketing content, including brochures, fliers, website slides, and display TV slides; advises other staff on the creation of these items

Contributes to the library’s social media

Produces and distributes the library’s online newsletter

Selects library materials for purchase in assigned areas

Attends workshops, trainings, and conferences, and participates in professional development activities

Other job functions as assigned
Schedule
20-hour work week includes one evening, every other Saturday and one Sunday per month.
