Title:                       Library Circulation Assistant (1)

Position:                 Part-time

Number of Vacancies:         One (1)

Hourly Salary:                      $18.00 an hour (L Schedule)

 

The Town of Needham is seeking a highly skilled individual to fill the part-time position of Library Circulation Assistant at the Needham Free Public Library.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all-inclusive):

  • Collaborate with library patrons; assisting them with information and/or directing them to appropriate locations or staff

  • Process library checkouts, renewals, returns, reserves, fines, registrations

  • Maintain orderliness of materials collection

  • Perform other circulation procedures as required

 

Requirements:

To be considered for the position, applicants must have at least:

  • Excellent customer service skills and capacity to interact effectively and tactfully with the general public

  • Familiarity with computers

  • Ability to perform detailed work accurately and efficiently

  • Capability to adapt to new technologies as required

  • Capability of standing for 4 hours at a time. If working a full day, there will be a lunch break and two fifteen-minute breaks.

  • Capability of bending, lifting up to 40 lbs., and pushing book carts loaded with books.

 

Weekly Work Schedule:

Work schedule will consist of daytime, evening, rotating Saturday & Sunday hours as scheduled

Hours:    Availability must include at least two morning, afternoon, or evening shifts and one full weekend day per week.  Shifts will vary depending on department need each week.
