Head of Circulation Librarian, Blaisdell Memorial Library, Nottingham, NH

The Blaisdell Memorial Library in Nottingham, NH seeks an energetic and customer service-oriented professional to become our Head of Circulation Librarian. This position reports directly to the Library Director and is responsible for the daily proper function of the circulation desk, collection maintenance, and patron services. The successful candidate will have a positive attitude and outlook, strong customer service skills, flexibility, a passion for libraries, and be a team player.

 

Your Daily Duties:

As the Head of Circulation you will spend the bulk of your days working at the circulation desk, updating displays, maintaining policy and procedure manuals, serving as an overall point of contact for all things library. You will also assist in book group facilitation, communication, selection and ordering of kits and titles as requested, while maintaining up-todate records of titles read for future reference. Planning and facilitating timely adult and youth programs is another component of this position, requiring a knowledge of the community, it’s needs and how to best serve them.

 

What You Need:

Candidate must be able to work in accordance with the Library Director and maintain a clear line of communication while being able to work independently, take initiative where needed and organize work for the most efficient use of time. Must possess strong computer skills including proficiency with email, Google Drive, Publisher, Word, Overdrive, and be willing to participate in applicable training when necessary. As customer service is our primary responsibility, the ability to interact courteously and effectively with the public and staff is essential.

 

Due to the nature of the job’s tasks, candidate must be able to push and pull carts, do a moderate amount of bending, squatting, lifting (up to 40 pounds), stretching, and standing for an extended period. Minimum of two (2) years library experience, including automation, technical services, cataloging, and collection development experience preferred but we will be willing to train the right candidate.

 

Salary: $17 – $20 per hour, depending upon experience.

 

Schedule: 20 – 24 hours/week + 9 hours/month (with some flexibility), closed on Mondays

Tuesday 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Wednesday 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Thursday 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Friday 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Saturday 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (1 per month)

Sunday 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM (1 per month)
