Children’s Librarian (Part-Time), Blaisdell Memorial Library, Nottingham, NH

Blaisdell Memorial Library is looking to hire a part-time Children’s Librarian to work Tuesdays through Fridays on the following schedule: Tuesday 10 am – 2 pm, Wednesday 10 am – 4 pm, Thursday 1 pm – 8 pm, and Friday 12 pm – 5 pm. Position will also require one Saturday 9 am – 2 pm, and one Sunday 1pm – 5 pm, per month with some flexibility in all hours. The library is closed on Mondays.

 

Qualifications:

Candidate should be able to interact with people of all ages, particularly children and their caretakers, detail-oriented and flexible. Working knowledge of Windows, Google Documents, Facebook and WordPress are preferred. A bachelor’s degree and previous library experience and/or experience working with children is preferable, but we are willing to train the correct candidate.

 

Responsibilities: 

• Plan, organize, and publicize programs and events for children, including the Summer Reading program

• Create and maintain displays in the children’s area

• Assist in daily library operations including shelving of books and other materials and emptying and processing book drop items

• Staff the circulation desk including checking books in and out, patron registration, patron record updates, reader’s advisory, reference assistance, and technology assistance to patrons

• Process interlibrary loan requests

• Assist with collection development in the children’s area

• Cataloging of children’s materials

• Update library webpage and Facebook to publicize children’s programs and events

• Additional duties and special projects as assigned by the director

 

Job includes bending, lifting, and reaching. 

Salary: $16.00 to $19.00/hr depending on qualifications
