The City of Everett is seeking a motivated, skillful, and energetic professional to fill an important leadership and management position to serve as the Director of the Everett Public Libraries. Ther Everett Public Libraries consist of the Parlin Memorial Library and the Shute Memorial Library, and it is the Director’s duty to oversee the successful management and operation of both.
The successful candidate for the position of Library Director must exemplify positive managerial skills and leadership through collaboration with the Library and City staff. The position requires not only extensive knowledge of library science, services, and procedures, but also requires demonstrated communication skills, an innovative mindset, and an ability to positively interact with the public. The Library Director, in conjunction with the City administration, will be responsible for the development and implementation of important initiatives and long-range plans.
The Library Director serves as a liaison to the advisory Library Board of Trustees. The Library Director is required to attend the Board’s monthly meetings, delivering to the Board updates pertaining to the Everett Public Libraries as well as taking into consideration the Board’s suggestions.
The Library Director must regularly engage the public, ensuring that the Everett Public Libraries are best serving the wants and needs of their numerous patrons.
Qualifications

Ten years of experience as a libraries or work in the field of Library Science

Five years of managerial experience

Certificate of Professional Librarianship issued by the Board of Library Commissioners.
Educational Requirements
Master of Library Science or Master of Library and Information Science from an A.L.A. accredited institution
Full-Time/Part-Time
This is a full-time position with benefits.
Salary
Salary commensurate with experience.
