Instruction Assistant, Northeastern University, Boston, MA

Northeastern Library is seeking an enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic person for the position of Instruction Teaching Assistant at Northeastern University Library. The First Year Program at Northeastern University Library supports a large number of first year programs throughout Northeastern University including the First Year Writing Program, Explore Program, General Studies, N.U.in, etc. This position reports to the First Year Experience and Undergraduate Engagement Librarian within the Research and Instruction Department.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the First Year Experience & Undergraduate Engagement librarian with administrative tasks such as intake, tracking, scheduling, room booking, etc.

  • Assist the First Year Experience & Undergraduate Engagement librarian in teaching workshops, one-shot information literacy classes, and various other forms of instruction.

  • Participate and lead library orientations, tours, and general outreach as needed.

  • Assist with developing the promotional and class materials for workshops and classes in the First Year Program.

  • Management of iPads for classroom instruction.

The successful candidate will:

  • Willing to learn about our instruction program and how to teach successfully

  • Enthusiastic about supporting and teaching undergraduate students

  • Enjoy interacting with students and faculty in formal and informal settings

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited MLIS program with an interest in academic Librarianship

  • Strong interested in academic librarianship especially in teaching and learning

 

Strongly Preferred:

  • Experience with iOS systems

 

How to Apply:

Full/Part-Time: Part-time, 10-15 hours per week 

Position Duration: Spring Semester 2020

Education: Currently enrolled in an accredited MLIS program or recent graduate student 

Salary: $17 per hour
