Job Overview:

The manager provides managerial leadership for this emerging program to develop and promote understanding of best practices for data and publication management throughout the research lifecycle. The program supports researchers, faculty, and students to follow effective practices to deposit Drexel-generated research publication and data outputs in appropriate repositories for their convenient discovery, open accessibility and responsible reuse. The manager leads efforts to market the Libraries’ strategic contribution to shape future research and Drexel’s research reputation.

 

Essential Functions:

Articulate the Program’s purpose and success metrics, and design and continually improve the program’s service deliverables, including consultations, guides, tools, and training.

Coordinate inquiries and assess the Libraries services for research data support for Drexel researchers, administrators, and librarians. Work within the Libraries matrix organization to develop and effectively promote guidance and tools for effective principles and practices for research output management and ethical use,

Collaborate with and lead subject librarians and other Libraries’ staff to refer and incorporate consultation support to Drexel researchers to develop, implement, and evaluate data management plans [DMPs] and to provide guidance that assures research output is recognized and managed as institutional assets.

Maintain and contribute knowledge on developments in research data repositories, output processing and submission, Intellectual Property policies and regulations, and data use permissions, coupled with understanding of researcher behaviors. Contribute to the Libraries’ Liaison program and serve as Libraries’ subject specialist for an assigned academic department or college/school Contribute professionally through participation in campus activities, external service, and/or publication and presentation.

Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

Master’s Degree, in ALA-acredited library, information, or data science.

Minimum of 3 years related experience. Demonstrated understanding of the research life cycle with developing familiarity in managing research data and publication outputs. Understanding of current issues in scholarly communication. Supervisory experience.

 

Preferred Experience:

PhD or research-based graduate education. Knowledge of standards and practices related to digital object management and preservation. Expertise in data-centric formats and utilization, such as GIS, data visualization, data analysis, and computational data.

 

Physical Demand:

Typically sitting at a desk or table.
