The Edwin Ginn Library seeks an individual with outstanding reference, research, and instruction skills to join our research team.  This position represents a unique opportunity for an individual looking to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment.  

 

Ginn’s research and instruction librarians work collaboratively to provide support to an active, international and culturally diverse student and faculty population engaged in international relations research across a wide variety of subjects including: diplomacy, international law and organizations, international business and finance, human rights, economics and economic development, history and political science, international energy resources and environmental policy, international security and peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance and migration, gender analysis in international studies, and conflict negotiation/resolution.

 

As a member of the research and instruction team, collaboratively provide reference and instruction in the areas of social science, international relations, international law, and international business and finance.  Develop strategies and materials to support these functions, in print and electronic forms, using various mediums. Participate in collection development in all formats, and provide library outreach to the Fletcher Community.  Work to identify ways to use new technology to enhance research, teaching and learning through library resources and learning management system within the Fletcher community. Provide complementary support and instruction on statistical analysis methodology and software packages (e.g. Tableau, Stata, etc.)

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA accredited program or equivalent.

• Familiarity with data discovery, analytical techniques, and statistical methodologies with economics or social sciences data sources and information. 

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a classroom setting and prepare instructional materials.

• 3-5 years public service in an academic library setting.

• Knowledge of current technologies and services supporting social science.

• Experience building relationships and partnerships with faculty, academic program staff, and other librarians.

• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

• Strong commitment to providing outstanding public service in an international and culturally diverse community.

• Demonstrated initiative, creativity and flexibility.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative software, such as STATA, SPSS, SAS, or Tableau.

• Demonstrated knowledge of scholarly communication and publishing issues.

• Experience with citation management tools like Zotero, EndNote, RefWorks, and Mendeley.

• Experience with project management, including planning, communication and assessment.

• Collection development experience.
