Minimum Position Qualifications:

Academic Rank: Assistant Professor

  • Education – Master’s Degree from an ALA accredited library/information science program.

  • Experience – Three (3) years appropriate experience is required, preferably in an academic library; experience with managing electronic resources and library information system; experience with copyright and Digital Rights Management.
  • Skills – Technology experience relevant to an academic library automation system; working knowledge of HTML and the ability to create/maintain Web pages; good understanding of trends in library services; strong commitment to provide responsive and innovative library support; strong communications skills; experience in providing instruction to both groups and individuals; sensitivity to the needs, problems and challenges associated with the diversity of the community college student population; ability to establish and maintain good relationships with faculty members, students, college staff and public patrons; ability to function with minimal supervision.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and supports the Library’s automation system; provides technical expertise, advanced knowledge and independent judgment to diagnose, analyze, and design solutions for problems with the library automation system;
  • Maintains all library electronic resources, and assure local and remote access to the library electronic services;
  • Assists in planning and implementing further development of the library integrated system and other library electronic services;
  • Responsible for the identification, evaluation, selection and implementation of electronic resources; 
  • Keeps informed of the most recent developments concerning the Copyright Law;
  • Participates in the library collection development; provides reference desk service and rotating evening and weekend schedules with library staff;
  • Assists in Information Literacy programs and Inter-library loan services as needed;
  • Assists in circulation desk services as needed;
  • Assists in copy cataloging services as needed;
  • Travels between campuses as needed;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Library.

 

Standard Work Week: 35 hours/wk
