Technology Services Assistant, U.S. Court of Appeals Library, Boston, MA

Salary: CPS 23/1 to 23/14 ($37, 306 – $42, 359) (full time per annum)

Depending on qualifications and experience.

Position is part time at 20 hours per week; additional hours possible if funding permits.

Organization:

The Libraries of the United States Courts for the First Circuit seek applicants for a part time Library Technician to work in the Technical Services Department of the headquarters library in Boston, Massachusetts.  The First Circuit Libraries provide services to the judges and staff of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Puerto Rico. 

 

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Technical Services Librarian, the incumbent assists with work in all areas of the Technical Services Department. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processing incoming subscription materials, including government documents.

  • Maintaining currency of library materials by shelving and filing supplemental materials. 

  • Assisting in the procurement of library materials. 

  • General collection and stack maintenance duties.

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of one to three years of experience working in a library. Experience working in a law library preferred.  

  • High level of attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team environment required.

  • Duties require frequent bending and lifting. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with an integrated library system such as Sirsi Dynix.  

  • Proficiency in applications such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
