Brandeis University Library seeks to hire a Data Analysis Specialist for Science. As part of a collaborative team in the library, the Data Analysis Specialist for Science builds relationships with faculty, students, and staff to support teaching, learning, and research on campus. Specifically, the Data Analyst Specialist will connect with science departments and programs to identify existing data analysis and data management needs on campus. Based on campus needs, the incumbent will develop services and educational programming, in support of community building around data science.

Examples of Key Responsibilities:

Consults with faculty, students, and staff in the sciences on projects involving data analysis, data visualization, and research data management.

Develops educational support systems for data analysis and research data management:

Designs and delivers workshops on data analysis methods and software;

Develops instructional programs and learning materials in a variety of formats and for researchers at different levels of experience.

Participates in and contributes to committees and work groups of the Library and the University.

Furthers knowledge in data services through:
-
Attending, participating in, or contributing to trainings, conferences, webinars, and other types of professional development.

Maintaining knowledge of best practices, developments, and trends in data services.
Qualifications:

A graduate degree in a science field or related quantitative discipline is required. Preferred: Research experience in the sciences.

Demonstrated experience in data analysis.

Expertise with R, Python, and other data analysis software, tools and technologies.

Understanding of the issues involved in data management, reproducibility, and version control.

Experience with data-wrangling, visualization, and analysis techniques.

Experience or strong interest in teaching. Preferred: Experience teaching statistics
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
