This is a year-round position and is primarily responsible for alphabetizing and numerically shelving materials in their proper location within a reasonable amount of time, learning and performing simple computer operations, clearing tables and re-positioning chairs, emptying the book drop, arranging books in their proper order on carts, packing and unpacking books in transit between libraries, and other related duties.

 

Education, Experience, Licensing

  • Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to: completion of the 10th grade. If the applicant is a current student and does not have work references, they must submit strong recommendation letters from at least three recent teachers.

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check is required.

 

Supplemental Information

  • This position is 40 hours bi-weekly with hours and days varying to include evenings, Saturdays, and some Sundays.

  • Prefer some work or volunteer experience in a library.

  • Ability to bend, stretch, sit and stand for long periods of time.

  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 35 lbs, and push fully loaded book carts.

  • The County may require employees to make either a temporary or long-term, permanent transfer to another Library location to accommodate the organization’s business needs.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES:  All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an Emergency as needed. During an Emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens
