Basic Function: The Kent State University School of Information is seeking applications for a Non-Tenure Track Visiting Professor position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of Youth Services, including School Librarianship.
Characteristics Duties and Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to, the following: Applications are encouraged from candidates with teaching competencies in the areas of school and youth librarianship. The position will include curriculum development, teaching, advising, and practicum oversight responsibilities of students enrolled in the School Library Media K-12 – MLIS, dual MLIS/MEd degree, and non-degree school media licensure programs.
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have licensure in school library media with an initial teaching certificate and a Doctorate in Library and Information Science or a related field at the time of hire. Applicants must have teaching experience in a K-12 public school environment. Preference will be given to those with collegiate teaching in an online environment.
Work Environment: Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
Special Instructions Summary: A nine-month appointment begins January 2020, summer teaching may be available. This is a one-year contract that is renewable for a maximum of three years. Salary is competitive, benefits are excellent. Applications will be accepted until October 31, 2019.
