General Duties for Both Positions
The Library Assistants positions perform all tasks related to the daily operations of the Library and the circulation and/or Children’s desks. Other duties include assists in opening and closing of the Library; retrieves and checks in all materials from the drop box in the Library; collects overdue and lost item fines; handles on-line museum pass reservation requests; provides assistance to patrons locating materials, resolves patron account related issues and answers phone inquiries. Two of the three positions posted will regularly work in the Children’s Room in addition to the circulation desk.
Qualifications

Library Assistants – High School Equivalency & 2 or more years of relevant customer service experience within a public library system preferred.

Senior Library Assistants – Associates Degree & 3 or more years of relevant customer service experience within a public library system preferred.
Additional Qualifications for both positions

Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.

Ability to handle details with accuracy for data entry; multi-task in a busy environment; work independently as well as be a team player; respond to phone and e-mail inquiries; handle office equipment such as a copier and fax machine.

Comfortable with the Internet and with assisting patrons to use the electronic catalog and the Library website.

Proficiency in using Google products and other Library applications.
Hourly Rates:
Library Assistant: $12.89 – $17.50
Senior Library Assistant: $18.89-$22.71
Schedule:
Position 1: Monday 10 – 12:30, Tuesday 9 – 2:30, Wednesday 5 – 9, Sunday 11:30 – 4
Position 2: Wednesday 10 – 1:30, Thursday 5 – 9, Friday 2 – 6, Sunday 11:30 – 4
Position 3: Monday 12 – 4:30, Tuesday 5:30 – 9, Thursday 10 – 5
All part-time staff work approximately one Saturday every 3 – 4 weeks, from 9 – 4, in addition to their regular weekly hours. Part-time staff may also be asked to cover available shifts that substitutes are unable to take.
