Whelden Memorial Library in West Barnstable, MA is immediately seeking a dynamic, forward thinking Director to administer a small library, open 36 hours a week. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, 3 years of responsible library administration, Master of Library Science preferred. Salary commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
Summary of Position Description:
The Director is the administrative officer of the library. Under the direction of, and reporting to, the Board of Trustees, the Director’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Plans, organizes, and administers all aspects of the Library’s services
- Serves as the Library’s primary public representative within the community
- Oversees the development and delivery of all library programs, collections, and services to meet both individual and general needs of library patrons
- Is proficient with current library technologies
- Trains, supervises and provides professional support and resources to staff and volunteers
- Prepares the annual budget for presentation to the Finance Committee, produces Town and State financial reports, prepares for the yearly audit, is proficient with QuickBooks, and controls expenditures to stay within the operating budget
- Assists the Board of Trustees with fundraising endeavors
- Oversees a staff of six part-time employees as well as volunteers
- Attends professional, interlibrary, and other meetings as required
