Cary Memorial Library has two openings for Sunday Library Technicians. The schedule includes every 4th Sunday (1 pm – 5 pm) between Labor Day and mid-June, as well as opportunities to cover staff absences for the Adult and Youth Services Departments. Library Technicians assist in all service areas of our busy, service-oriented Library. The individual in this position will be expected to work at Children’s, Teen, and Adult Circulation Desks. This position performs a full range of library responsibilities, including assisting patrons in locating materials, checking materials in and out, handling network transfers, issuing library cards, and answering telephones.
Schedule: Every 4th Sunday from 1- 5 pm (4 hours), from September to mid-June. Additional substitute hours as needed.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will hold at least a High School or Associate Degree, will be self-motivated, and will possess the ability to establish rapport with patrons of all ages, as well as demonstrate attention to detail. PC proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications are required. Experience using III’s Sierra software is strongly preferred, although we will consider candidates with experience using other automated library systems. Ability to speak Mandarin is a plus.
We are looking for someone who will be self-motivated, and will possess the ability to establish rapport with patrons of all ages, as well as demonstrate attention to detail. A collegial attitude and a commitment to outstanding customer service is essential.
Salary: $18.16 – $25.38 hourly, commensurate with experience. Sunday pay is calculated at time and a half. No benefits.
