Information Technology Director, Wellesley Free Library, Wellesley, MA

The Wellesley Free Library (WFL) is seeking a fearless, flexible and fun full-time Information Technology (IT) Director. The current incumbent is retiring this fall after 18 years of service. Reporting to the Library Director, the IT Director is responsible for all aspects of technology within the WFL. The IT Director encourages and facilitates the use of technology through creative and practical solutions that enhance the delivery of services to patrons and staff. The incumbent oversees all levels of technology, including network services received through WFL’s membership in the Minuteman Library Network (MLN); WFL’s Local Area Network; WFL’s web site; and all independent computer functions. The incumbent leads the processes of evaluation and planning for current and future needs for all library technology; actively seeks enhancements to library services by keeping abreast of changing and emerging technologies; and supervises automation and technical training for internal and external customers. The IT Director directly supervises IT Department staff, is actively involved in administration, and may act as the Library Director in his/her absence if needed. The anticipated hiring range is $69,600 – $85,000.

Requirements: Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science, Information Science or related field. Two years of supervisory experience.  Five years of experience with computers and computer networks. Extensive knowledge of computer technology, networking, software applications, Windows server operating systems, and web based products and services.  Ability to plan and manage budgets, with two years of budget experience.  Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills. Ability to work calmly, effectively and accurately in high pressure situations. Strong conflict resolution and problem solving skills.
