Summary
This position is scheduled to work 28 hours per week and is eligible for full-time benefits.
Provides research consultations, group library instruction, and documentation. Functions as a liaison to a specific academic division and/or administrative area; and coordinates library services with a major customer group.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provides research consultation service on site and virtually via drop-in, appointment, telephone, and electronic communications to members of the Babson community using library resources. Where time permits, provides brief reference service to alumni, local business people, and residents using library sources. Develops guides and other documentation in appropriate media.
- Collaborates with a specific division and/or administrative area on their curricular direction and research library needs. Consults on major resources and services. Assesses information and instructional needs to identify recommended plan of action. Coordinates library services to division/department members and their upper-level courses.
- Communicates with fellow liaisons to ensure cross-divisional needs are met. Streamlines access to information resources in one or more subject areas by developing guides and instructional learning sets. Selects and deselects materials in all media according to needs and with budget. Provides guides, documentation, and communication of major information resources available.
- Participates in graduate and/or undergraduate instruction services for Babson faculty, student, and programmatic clients, both in person and in virtual formats. Develops students, faculty, and staff information literacy and skills for efficient, effective use of information resources in all formats and media through group orientations and instruction. Responsible for learning new technologies as preferred methods of providing training and instruction.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of the-art practices; and participating in professional societies and consortia.
- Responsible for review of portion of a budget ($1 – $250,000) and/or for monitoring and assisting with budget preparation and record keeping (not vouching).
- Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

Minimum Experience
Education Requirements:
Minimum Level of Education Required Master’s Degree in Library Science from a school accredited by the American Library Association
Position Knowledge/Skills & Abilities Requirements:
- At least 3-5 years of post MLS academic experience.
- Strong presentation and engagement skills.
- Excellent computer proficiency manipulating info databases and datasets and using web and desktop tools to support curriculum and research.
- May require experience in a business background.
- May require experience in providing reference with business reference resources.
- May require ability to retrieve library materials.
