Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
The candidate will provide Windows Systems Engineer support for our client. The successful candidate’s core responsibilities will include, but not to be limited to:
- Supporting the operations of a production enterprise application running Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2008 on multiple Windows servers.
- Performing Windows technical analysis and operational support.
- Operation and maintenance of the OS including application of patches and upgrades.
- Understanding Government policies and terminology in support of cybersecurity requirements.
- Security hardening for OS and web containers is required.
- Handling support desk tickets related to the operation system and application.
- Hardware / OS performance analysis and tuning, enhancements and corrective actions.
- Ensuring the ongoing process/system capability associated with projects and manages any changes required to meet or exceed the expectations established in project designs.
- Defining project scope and objectives and develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports.
- Ensuring adherence to quality standards, review project deliverables, manage the integration of vendor tasks, and track and review vendor deliverables.
- Scripting development to automate processes and monitor system performance.
- Controlling consistency and integrity monitoring and health checks of the operating system and applications.
- Working with database administrators to ensure the integrity of the database environments. Assist database administrators with performance and capacity issues.
- Setting up administrator and service accounts.
- Providing backup and recovery.
- Maintaining system documentation and writing installation and operations documents.
- Effectively interacting with the customer.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related academic focus area with 5+ years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education, certification, and relevant experience may be considered.
- Experience working with DHA projects in all life cycles.
- Experience in the creation, deployment, and operation of IT systems.
- Expert knowledge in managing schedule, performance, and quality of the IT systems development life-cycle.
- Experience in managing the relationship with Government hosting environments.
- Experience managing projects in similar size and scope.
- Experience with IIS/Tomcat and .NET Framework.
- SQL experience in creating and updating scripts.
- Knowledge on the CCB process.
- Extensive knowledge of Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows Server 2008 R2/SP2.
- On call and after-hours maintenance support required.
- Some travel to US and overseas sites may be required.
- U.S. Citizenship is required. Candidate selected must be able to successfully pass an extensive client background investigation.
