Digital Instructor, Lawrence Family Development Charter School, Lawrence, MA 

Job Description:

We are currently looking for a Digital Instructor. The Digital Instructor is a member of the Technology Team, with specific responsibilities to assist the administration and teachers with professional development for teaching with technology and delivering instruction in a blended learning format. The Digital Instructor leads the use of the Learning Management System (Schoology) and the LFDCS Google Education Account. This work benefits instruction through diverse and supportive technology in classrooms, including a one to one device program for grades 5-8. The Digital Instructor builds on the current implementation of blended learning and necessary integration and supports to maintain and expand school-wide instructional technology efforts for personalized learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Curriculum Research and Implementation

  • Keep current on available products and development in the field of educational technology which support the curriculum frameworks. Advise administration and teachers on the selection, costs and use of software purchases to support the curriculum through software, apps and the internet. 
  • Assist the Principal and school leaders in the research, development and evaluation of new methods and digital tools that advance the school.
  • Manage the implementation of adopted district software as outlined in curriculum guides.
  • Provide teacher/student/classroom professional development support and technical training (“Tech Talk” and the Teacher technology Committee) to integrate technology into instruction. 
  • Demonstrate multiple strategies to model best blended learning practices for teachers.
  • Lead the school professional development on leveraging technology to more effectively personalize student learning and share resources among vertical and horizontal teacher teams.
  • Assists with all testing (MCAS, Access, MAP), which as of 2016-17, is delivered online using Chromebooks.
  • Attend bi-monthly, grade-level planning meetings with teachers to identify curriculum needs which can be met through technology and blended learning approaches. Follow-up with research and recommendations.
  • Install software / Manage Google Apps where needed and provide information, assistance and training to users (teachers and students).
  • Identify possible consultants or partners to provide training and extended professional development for staff as appropriate for grade levels.
  • Create inventory of all technology equipment and software and guidelines for staff and student use.
  • Prepare educators to analyze data and develop visualization techniques for data assessments, evidence of learning, etc.
  • Model network practices on e-learning communities and personal learning communities through social media. Lead and/or support a professional learning community approach for training.
  • Through quantitative and qualitative methods, collect baseline and ongoing data related to LFDCS’ progress with blended learning and teaching with technology. 
  • Track progress with blended learning and teaching with technology and submit an annual report June 30th to the principal on these efforts. 
  • Software Administration and Support
  • Manage Schoology/ Google user accounts Design course modules/folder structure for the consistent navigation of course architecture on Schoology 
  • Back up Schoology resources and archive courses at least annually for teachers’ and students’ use
  • Control access to the Schoology platform for instructional and dissemination purposes 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four-year college degree required; Master’s degree and teacher certification preferred
  • Knowledge of education, curriculum, child development and appropriate use of technology
  • Experience working with local-area networks and servers. Individuals with certifications such as Google-certified educator preferred or Apple-endorsed teacher or those with Instructional Technology, Design, Computer Science experience in K-12 settings are encouraged to apply.
