Live-On Graduate Assistant, Simmons College, Boston, MA

The Office of Residence Life is very excited to announce an open position for the 2017-2018 academic year specifically for Simmons College graduate students and Dix Scholars. This live-in Graduate Assistant (GA) position will be the primary support for our full-time Residence Life Coordinator staff. GAs will help to oversee multiple buildings on the Simmons Residence Campus, housing about 350 students and between 8-12 RAs.
Graduate Assistants serve in the professional staff on-call rotation and serve on committees for the Office of Residence Life. GAs will work approximately 20 hours a week (not including duty), including 12 hours designated office hours per week. Compensation includes $13 an hour for office hours (up to $5,000 per year) plus a furnished apartment and an on campus meal plan during the academic year valued at $16,000.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to interact effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
- A commitment to a multicultural education and an understanding of the value of a women-centered college experience.
- Enrollment in a graduate program at Simmons College or enrollment as an undergraduate Dix Scholar.
- Course load and other outside commitments must be appropriate to the time demands of the position.
GAs must also meet their academic obligations successfully, maintaining good standing in their graduate program. Students must be in good standing with the college. Graduate Assistants may not have more than 20 hours per week combined internship / practicum and/or part-time employment on or off campus (outside of the Simmons GA position).
Preferred Qualifications: Prior Residence Life and/or Student Life experience.
